Edit permissions on an OKR or initiative

Users with edit access for an OKR or an initiative can now grant multiple users the ability to edit the respective OKR or initiative in Viva Goals.

Grant edit access on an OKR or initiative

  1. When creating or editing an OKR/initiative, select the permissions section.
    • This section is accessible through either the edit or create modal under an OKR or initiative.
  2. Select Manage Permissions.
    1. Under the Privacy option, add any user who is a part of the tenant to grant them edit access for the selected OKR or initiative.

Note

OKR owners can now also see other users who have access to an OKR or initiative under the Direct Access section.
This functionality is not available for connected teams where the view permissions are set to “team members only”. In such teams, users will not be able to configure custom edit settings.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  1. What kind of permission access does a user need to grant edit access on an OKR or initiative?

    1. Any user who has access to edit an OKR or initiative would be able to grant edit access. This includes:
    • OKR owners and all respective managers
    • OKR creators and all managers
    • Parent OKR owners and all managers
    • Parent team owners
    • Team creators
    • Delegates
    • Organization admins
  2. What is direct access?

    1. Direct access refers to users who have access to an OKR or initiative by the permissions designated by their role. For example, organization admins and team owners have access to edit all OKRs that can be viewed by organization members.
  3. By selecting "only selected people can view and align", would organization admins or team owners be able to edit this OKR?

    1. No. When this option is selected, only the users who are added explicitly are able to edit that OKR/initiative.

    Note

For an OKR or initiative that has permission to be set as "only selected people can view and align", OKR owners and delegates are able to edit that OKR/initiative. Check-in owners for the OKR or initiative would only be able to view the OKR or initiative.
