Key Definitions

  • Deal: A parent folder under which multiple scenarios (quotes) can be created and managed. Each deal represents a specific business transaction or agreement.

  • Scenario: A child entity under a deal, representing a specific quote or set of quotes. Scenarios can be of different types such as new, supplemental, true-up, or renewal.

  • Quote: A detailed proposal for a deal, including pricing, products, and terms. Quotes are created within scenarios and are subject to various approvals and validations.

  • Partner/Customer Organization: The entity/customer that is involved in the deal.

  • CPS (Customer Price Sheet): A document generated at the end of the quote creation process, summarizing the pricing and terms of the deal.

  • PCE (Partner Commercial Executive): A user role with specific permissions (PLSS empowerment) to manage and approve deals within the workspace.

  • Microsoft Commercial Executive: A Microsoft sales representative who reviews and approves deals that require higher-level authorization.

Workflow Steps

  1. Initiate Scenario Setup: Create a new deal and set up the initial scenario, including selecting the scenario type (new, supplemental, true-up, renewal) and providing necessary details.

  2. Contacts: Add customer, partner, and Microsoft contact details.

  3. Price Setting: Define pricing country, licensing agreement type, currency, channel model, and other pricing-related details.

  4. Products: Select and configure products to be included in the quote, including adding discounts and quantities.

  5. Future Products: The "Future Products" section displays additional products that may be relevant to the deal

  6. SA Credits: Helps in applying Software Assurance credits, if applicable to the specified enrollment.

  7. Exceptions: Review and address any errors, warnings, or exceptions that may block the quote from being finalized.

  8. Errors & Warnings: Warnings show messages to include information that are good to have, however, errors show messages to include information that is mandatory but missing in the scenario. An error blocks the user from CPS generation while a warning does not block the same.

  9. Amendments: Upload any necessary documents or amendments related to the deal.

  10. Approval: Send the deal for approval to the appropriate commercial executive (PCE or Microsoft) based on the level of exceptions and discounts applied.

This structured approach ensures that all aspects of the deal are thoroughly reviewed and approved before finalization, providing a comprehensive and efficient process for managing partner deals.
