Open Value

This article provides guidance on how to use Volume Licensing Central for Open Value Subscription (OVS) and Open Value (OV).

Open Value Subscription

OVS: Submission of initial order

  1. Go to the Search for Agreement page. You can search by Agreement Number or Customer Name. Enter your search words in the Search field, then press Enter or select the magnifying glass icon.

  2. Review the search results and select the agreement that you want to create the order for.

  3. Select Create Order to compose the order details.

  1. The Usage Date for the OVS initial order must match the beginning of the period coverage, for example, April 12, 2021.

OVS options include:

  • Prepay option—Purchases made in years 1 and 2. Prepay option is always required for purchase of Online Services (OLS).
  • Spread-payments option—Purchases made in years 1 and 2. There’s no spread-payments option for OLS.

OVS: Submission of anniversary order

  1. When submitting an anniversary order, select the Anniversary Order box.

  2. If the anniversary order box isn’t selected during submission, the order is processed as an additional order, not as an anniversary order. The anniversary order is used for covering years 2 and 3.

  1. The anniversary date or the usage date starts from when the coverage starts.

Anniversary date

The first day of the following month is the enrollment start date, except when the enrollment starts on the first of the month. The anniversary date is then the same date and month of the enrollment start date. In this example, the anniversary date is April 12, 2021, so the usage date is May 1, 2021.

Note

The distributor is required to submit anniversary orders each year within 30 days of the anniversary of the initial order. The anniversary orders are required for any product that was initially ordered with spread payments (as opposed to being prepaid).  Anniversary orders are solicited. This means that they must be submitted within 30 days of the anniversary date of the initial order because they’re not automatically billed.

OVS: Submission of products

  1. VLC validates expected quantities to be ordered.

  2. OLS SKUs are purchased as prepaid for 12 months.

  3. Enter the discount codes (BCweb) in the Special Deal Number box.

d.      The Usage Date for the OV initial order must match the beginning of the period coverage. In this example, it should be May 10, 2019, which is the agreement start date.

  1. The beginning of the period to cover should match the Next Anniversary date. In this example, the next anniversary date is July 1, 2025, so the usage date is set to July 1, 2021.
