This article shows you how to collect logs from Windows App that you can use to help troubleshoot issues.
Prerequisites
Before you can collect logs, you need:
- Windows App installed on your local device, or access to Windows App in a web browser, with at least one device or app added. To learn more, see Get started with Windows App
Collect logs
Select a tab for the platform you're using.
Here's how to collect logs from Windows App for Windows:
Make sure there aren't any connections to devices or apps.
Make sure Windows App is closed.
Open File Explorer on your local device and go to %temp%\DiagOutputDir\Windows365\Logs
.
Copy the files in the folder to a new folder. You can open the files in a text editor, or provide them to support.
Here's how to collect logs from Windows App for macOS:
Open Windows App and make sure there aren't any connections to devices or apps.
From the macOS menu bar, select Help, followed by Troubleshooting, then select Logging.
Select a Core log level and a UI log level.
For When logging, write the output to, select the drop-down menu, then select Choose Folder and choose which folder to save the logs to.
Select Start Logging.
Use Windows App as you normally would, or if you have an issue, reproduce it.
Once you're finished, select Stop Logging. You can find the log file in the directory you chose to save the logs to. You can open the files in a text editor, or provide them to support.
Here's how to collect logs from Windows App for macOS:
Open Windows App and make sure there aren't any connections to devices or apps.
Tap the cog icon for Settings, or tap your user account picture to open the settings pane.
Tap Troubleshooting.
Select a Core log level, a UI log level, and select an Output Folder to save the logs to.
Tap Start. Tap the back arrow (<) and exit the settings pane.
Use Windows App as you normally would, or if you have an issue, reproduce it.
Once you're finished, return to Settings, then Troubleshooting, and tap Stop. You can find the log file in the directory you chose to save the logs to. You can open the files in a text editor, or provide them to support.
Here's how to collect logs from Windows App for Android/Chrome OS:
Open Windows App.
Tap the user profile icon to open the settings pane. If you haven't added any remote resources, you need to select the X (cross) icon on the start screen first.
Tap Troubleshooting.
Select a Core log level, a UI log level, and select an Output Folder to save the logs to.
Tap Start. Tap the back arrow (<) and exit the settings pane.
Use Windows App as you normally would, or if you have an issue, reproduce it.
Once you're finished, return to Settings, then Troubleshooting, and tap Stop. You can find the log file in the directory you chose to save the logs to. You can open the files in a text editor, or provide them to support.
Here's how to collect logs from Windows App in a web browser:
Sign in to Windows App using your web browser.
Connect to a device or app.
On the toolbar of the session, select the i icon in a circle.
Select Capture logs. Your browser prompts you to download the log file in its normal way.
