OutputBufferAPI rule (kmdf)

The OutputBufferAPI rule specifies that the correct DDIs for buffer retrieval are used in the EvtIoWrite callback function. Within the EvtIoWrite callback function, the following DDIs cannot be called for buffer retrieval:

WdfRequestRetrieveOutputBuffer WdfRequestRetrieveUnsafeUserOutputBuffer WdfRequestRetrieveOutputWdmMdl WdfRequestRetrieveOutputMemory

How to test

At compile time

Run Static Driver Verifier and specify the OutputBufferAPI rule.

Use the following steps to run an analysis of your code:
  1. Prepare your code (use role type declarations).
  2. Run Static Driver Verifier.
  3. View and analyze the results.
