The new Usage page in Partner Center (Apps and Games -> Select Your App -> View Analytics -> Usage) provides developers with a detailed view of how users engage with their apps over time. This page separates core usage data into distinct, easy-to-read charts for better clarity and actionable insights. Unlike before, the data is no longer merged into a single chart but presented in multiple focused visualizations.
Key Usage Metrics
- Monthly Active Devices (MAD): This metric displays the count of distinct devices accessing your app, with trend-line visualization to analyze engagement fluctuations.
- Sessions: Track app activity with the total number of user sessions initiated. Use the trend sparkline for a quick view of fluctuations.
- Average Engagement Duration: Discover how much time, on average, each user spends in your app per session, directly measuring stickiness.
- DAD/MAD Ratio: Assess user stickiness by comparing daily to monthly activity, shown both as a percentage and trend graph.
App Activity Insights
- Monthly Activity: Toggle between Users and Devices to analyze total active users and new users. Line graphs show how engagement evolves.
- Daily Activity: Switch the view to inspect daily totals for active users and new users. Use the line charts to spot weekday/weekend patterns and short‑term fluctuations.
- Sessions: See daily session totals with a clear visual breakdown. This helps pinpoint usage spikes or drops.
- Engagement Duration: View both the average session length (in minutes) and cumulative app engagement in hours over time. Overlayed charts make it easy to contrast session quality with total user commitment.
- Cohort Active Usage (90 days): Heatmap traces retention by weekly activity for user cohorts, revealing long-term engagement and where drop-offs occur.
Detailed Distribution Metrics
- App Version Breakdown: Instantly see usage distributed by app version, including actives and sessions, with sortable columns for fastest insight into the best and worst performing releases.
- Country Distribution: Explore regional trends with a table showing active devices and sessions by country or region, supporting global monitoring and targeted analysis.
- App Version Adoption Over Time: Stacked area charts visualize how quickly new versions are being adopted and which versions dominate at any point in time.
Additional Metrics & Actions
- DAD/MAD Stickiness: Monitor changes in user engagement, understanding the proportion of monthly users who return on a daily basis.
- User-Initiated Uninstalls: Metric and trend graph show daily uninstall counts, helping identify friction points or release issues.
Navigating and Customizing the Usage dashboard
- Time range: Use the time range dropdown to view data for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or a custom range. This applies across all charts and tables and helps you compare short‑term trends with longer‑term patterns.
- Filters & Customization: Apply filters for Market, Device type, Package version, and OS version to tailor insights.
- Exporting Data: Download charts and tables for custom analysis or offline sharing directly from the dashboard.
- Navigation: Clicking on info icons or chart titles can open deeper health reports or metrics definitions for context and troubleshooting.
