The latest version of Microsoft Copilot includes the following policies that you can use to control how and when Microsoft Copilot is updated.

This article applies to Microsoft Copilot version 152 or later.
The following tables list all of the update-related group policies available in this release of Microsoft Copilot. Use the links in the table to get more information about specific policies.

Install (Copilot)
Allow installation
Microsoft Edge Update 1.3.253.25 and later.
Description for Install (Copilot)
Lets you specify whether Copilot can be installed using Microsoft Edge Update.
If you don't configure this policy, users can install Copilot through Microsoft Edge Update.
If you disable (0) this policy (or set it to 'Installs disabled'), users can't install Copilot through Microsoft Edge Update.
To enable (1) or Force Installs (5), you must also enable Updater Experimentation And Configuration Service Control.
If you enable (1) this policy, users can install Copilot through Microsoft Edge Update.
If you set the policy to Force Installs (Machine-Wide) (5), Copilot will be installed to all machines where Microsoft Edge Update is preinstalled.

Update (Copilot)
Update policy override
Microsoft Edge Update 1.3.253.25 and later.
Description for Update (Copilot)
Lets you specify whether or not automatic updates are enabled for Copilot. Automatic updates are enabled by default.
If you enable this policy, Microsoft Edge Update handles Copilot updates according to how you configure the following options:
- Always allow updates (1): Updates are automatically downloaded and applied.
- Updates disabled (0): Updates are never downloaded or applied
- If you don't enable this policy, updates are automatically downloaded and applied.

Uninstall (Copilot)
Specify uninstall behavior for Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Edge Update 1.3.253.25 and later.
Description for Uninstall (Copilot)
You can specify whether Copilot (stable channel) is uninstalled, or is blocked from being uninstalled, on domain-joined devices.
If this policy is set to 'Enabled', Copilot is automatically uninstalled on all devices where this policy is deployed. User data is kept on the device. Copilot will be uninstalled the next time Microsoft Edge Update automatically checks for updates.
If this policy is set to 'Enabled and delete user data' (Setting '2'), Copilot is automatically uninstalled on all devices where this policy is deployed, and user data are deleted from the device.
If this policy is set to 'Disabled' (Setting '3'), all users are prevented from uninstalling Copilot where this policy is deployed.
If the policy is 'Not configured' (default setting), all users are able to uninstall Copilot if they choose to do so.
This policy is available only on Windows instances that are joined to a Microsoft® Active Directory® domain.
If Copilot needs to be reinstalled:
- You can set the 'Install' Policy to Force Installs (Machine-Wide) to reinstall Copilot.
- If you set the Install policy to Force Installs (Machine-Wide), and also set the Uninstall policy to Enabled, the Force Installs (Machine-Wide) policy will override the Uninstall policy.

Target Channel overrides

Description for TargetChannel (Copilot)
Specifies which Copilot update channel to use.
This policy controls which update channel Copilot will follow.
If you enable this policy, Copilot will be updated to the channel you configure:
- Stable: Updated to the latest stable version.
- Beta: Updated to the latest beta version.
If you disable or don't configure this policy, Copilot will update to the latest version available for the stable channel.
This policy is supported only on Windows devices that are joined to a Microsoft® Active Directory® domain.

Description for CopilotUnificationAllowed
Lets you specify whether the Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications can be unified using Microsoft Edge Update.
This policy is only effective if you enable Updater Experimentation And Configuration Service Control.
If you enable (1) this policy, the Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications will be unified the next time Microsoft Edge Update automatically checks for updates.
If you disable (0) this policy, or don't configure this policy, the Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications will be unified according to the standard rollout.
This policy is supported only on Windows devices that are joined to a Microsoft® Active Directory® domain.
