IAMAnalogVideoDecoder::put_VCRHorizontalLocking method (strmif.h)

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The put_VCRHorizontalLocking method specifies whether the video is a tape source or a broadcast source.

Syntax

HRESULT put_VCRHorizontalLocking(
  [in] long lVCRHorizontalLocking
);

Parameters

[in] lVCRHorizontalLocking

Specifies one of the following values.

Value Description
0 The video is from a broadcast source.
1 The video is from a tape source.

Return value

Returns an HRESULT value. Possible values include the following.

Return code Description
E_PROP_ID_UNSUPPORTED
The device does not support this method.
S_OK
Success.

Remarks

The timing accuracy of synchronization pulses is typically poorer from a tape source than from a broadcast source. Setting the value to 1 tells the decoder to relax its standards, which leads to a better chance of maintaining sync.
