IsCharAlphaW function (winuser.h)

Determines whether a character is an alphabetical character. This determination is based on the semantics of the language selected by the user during setup or through Control Panel.

Syntax

BOOL IsCharAlphaW(
  [in] WCHAR ch
);

Parameters

[in] ch

Type: TCHAR

The character to be tested.

Return value

Type: BOOL

If the character is alphabetical, the return value is nonzero.

If the character is not alphabetical, the return value is zero. To get extended error information, call GetLastError.

Remarks

Note

The winuser.h header defines IsCharAlpha as an alias which automatically selects the ANSI or Unicode version of this function based on the definition of the UNICODE preprocessor constant. Mixing usage of the encoding-neutral alias with code that not encoding-neutral can lead to mismatches that result in compilation or runtime errors.
