[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. The DoRenderSample method renders a sample.

Syntax

virtual HRESULT DoRenderSample(
   IMediaSample *pMediaSample
) = 0;

Parameters

pMediaSample

Pointer to the sample's IMediaSample interface.

Return value

Returns an HRESULT value.

Remarks

The derived class must implement this method. The behavior depends entirely on the type of filter being implemented. A video renderer, for example, would draw the video image contained in the sample.
