An identifier of a network node that differentiates one node from another on a network. Also known as the net address, or MAC address. In the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), an address is used to connect a site and site system. A sender uses a specific address to send instructions and data to other sites.

Source and destination addresses of a data transmission. The destination can be a single address, multicast, or broadcast. In captured data, the source address is a specific address. In filter specifications, the source address can be a specific address, or ANY, but it cannot be broadcast or multicast.
