aged out

Also, aged out of the cache. In RRAS, a route is aged out when it is removed from the routing table after a specified period of time.

authentication

Authentication is the process of verifying that a user is who he or she claims to be. Authentication is typically performed using a user name and password.

autonomous system (AS)

An autonomous system is a group of routers that share a single administrative policy. These routers all use the same routing protocol to communicate (called an interior gateway protocol). See also exterior gateway protocol.

autostatic route

An autostatic route is a route that is dynamically obtained from a routing protocol. After a route is obtained in this manner, it behaves as a staticroute.
