    Hi,

Based on my test, this service will stop after 10 minutes. It is by design.
It is supposed to start automatically when the service needs to be used and configured the startup type as Automatic.

But per further searching, some people shared following method to keep the service running even when idle. Kindly have a test and let us know more assistance needed.

    Key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RemoteRegistry

    Name : DisableIdleStop

    REG_DWORD, data : 1

Note: No restart should be required. And always backup important data before changes made in registry.

Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.

    Thanks,
    Jenny

Strange as it may be, it didn't work for me.

But, it did work when I set the value to 0 (zero). So:

    • without the value, the service stops
    • when you define it and set it to 1 the service continues to stop
    • when you set it to zero, finally, the service keeps running

This was on a Windows server. The problem with de Remote Registry service stopping, was introduced after a regular windows update (March or April 2024). Until the I didn't need to do anything te keep this service running. And it needs to because otherwise zome PRTG sensors don't work.

So, thank you Microsoft. Again several hours down the drain.
