Can we get rid of the label "2023 TomTom Microsoft Azure (smiley face)" in the bottom right corner?

It's unprofessional for my users to see this, it's distracting and it adds no value to the visual.

This is ridiculous. Who was the designer on this project? I hope there is some strong consideration here before forcing updates to all of our reports.

The copyright text cannot be removed, as per the terms of use of the map platform (most, if not all map platforms are required to show the copyrights for the data). The smiley face is a button for providing feedback about the map data. The main purpose is to save companies who use the map control in their app getting queries about map data issues. I know several large global companies where they see this small button has helped nearly remove all the customer support queries they had from end users related to map data issues (several of these companies had requested this feature for years). You can remove this from the map by setting the showFeedbackLink to false. The map logo is optional and can be hidden by setting showLogo to false, however this will result in "Microsoft" being added to the text copyrights for legal purposes.

where is the option to change showFeedbackLink to false and showLogo to false ? I can't see the options anywhere under the "format your visual" options.

It sounds like you are using the Power BI visual and not developing with the Azure Maps SDK directly. In that case there is no options to remove these elements from the map. Power BI requires consistency with the visuals. I can send that as feature request to the Power BI Map visual team for future consideration. That said, there is a lot of value in having that feedback button there. In Power BI users are typically looking and analyzing data much closer than they would normally and there is higher potential for them to find geospatial related issues (e.g. some location fields aren't geocoding, or some issue with the map data) and this provides an easy way for them to report this feedback easily to the right people and save a lot of headache for others. The world is a big place that is constantly changing, and we see thousands of data update requests a day. As for the smiley face icon, it is a standard icon used for feedback in a lot of Microsoft business products.

Please reactivate also the full transparency of the previous copy right information which didn't have the user unfriendly white background of the copyright visual.

My clients complain a lot about it and we are already evaluating how we can use visuals of other providers because this is visually unappealing.

Also resize the quadrant of the copyright area according to the total shape of the visual. My map is a tiny part of the report but the copyright label is compared to that huge. So it takes way too much space. When it is small the rectangle also takes all of the sudden the whole horizontal space.

And even though I can understand that you don't want to remove the Tom Tom part. But at least remove the Microsoft Azure part which doesn't violate any copyrights.

The background of the copyright text is semi-transparent and hasn't changed in over 5 years. Removing that would obscure the text due to the contrast of the map and would not align with the requirements of the terms of use (copyrights have to be unobscured). Note that Microsoft is required by its data providers to display these copyrights.

Circling back. I heard from the maps team that they are making some adjustments to the copyright and feedback UI of the map control. This will likely make it into the Power BI control in February or March.

That's if you are using the developer API, not the Power BI visual. There are plans for changing the style of the copyrights and feedback button in Power BI in one of the upcoming updates.

My boss has literally asked me to migrate maps back to the old version because of this silly legal requirement. Please find a way to downgrade the font size or something to minimize it. If a map is configured to be a small size the footer covers up to 1/3 of the area.

What old version? Azure Maps has had this for over 5 years (the platform is less than 6 year sold). The Power BI version of Azure Maps has always had this copyright and feedback area since it was released as a preview. Note that is only 20 pixels tall. I believe there is plans to expose the option to hide the logo and feedback button, but copyright text will always appear as it's a legal requirement for both Microsoft and users of the maps. If you are using Power BI and you meant the older maps visual, it's still there and a single click to switch over.

My guess is that they were using the Filled Map within PowerBI. When using the Filled Map Visualization, a message pops up every time I open my pbix file telling me there is a forced change to Azure map this year. As of now, the Azure map is way inferior to the current Filled Map in PowerBI when it comes to filled maps. I would like to know exactly when this change is being forced on us and if Azure map will be the same to the Filled Map when it comes to its capabilities.

I'm not on the Azure Maps team, so don't have timelines. But do know that the original Filled Maps visual had a ton of issues and the plan was to make this Azure Maps filled map visual better. I do know the team is doing a lot of work on it still.

Same, Azure map is trash because of that annoying copy right logo. The basic map visual is cleaner.

I am not sure if the copy right can be removed from the Maps. However, I noticed from my testing that, the smiley face and Microsoft Azure can be removed by adding the following configurations as you render the map.

var map = new atlas.Map('myMap', { //map options authOptions: { //authorization options }, showFeedbackLink: false, showLogo: false });

The resulting map generated would not have the feedback link represented through smiley face and Microsoft Azure link.

The Azure Maps power BI visual is built into Power BI and is not available for direct download and customization (it doesn't use the public Power BI API interface). The feedback smiley and logo cannot be changed in Power BI at this time. Note that Power BI uses the same smiley icon for feedback in their UI as well. The smiley icon on the map is for reporting map specific feedback. All versions of power BI show this and is there for consistency. The option for hiding the logo isn't exposed in the Power BI visual currently, but I'll pass that feature request to the Azure Maps team.
