Error code CAA50021 when signing into applications

For weeks we've had an issue with users being signed out of Microsoft applications, and then when they go to sign back in, it will take at least 5 minutes to sign in. Once its finished loading, it will either start the cycle again, asking for the password and 2 factor, or it will present an error code CAA50021 and say "Something went wrong", but once you hit continue, it signs you into the application.
Has any one else experienced this, and do they have a fix? This seems to affect all users across the organisation, especially after password changes, and has a significant impact on productivity.

jeff@swymed.com 0 Reputation points2024-06-25T16:30:31.3733333+00:00 I had Office365 on a personal subscription (linked to my @hotmail account). I upgraded my Office365 email from "Essentials" to "Professional" through GoDaddy which includes installed Office365 apps so I allowed the personal subscription to lapse.
Now I can't log in to the apps using my "Professional" email account.
I am admin on my own Windows 10 desktop PC, not controlled by a domain or Azure AD. I sign into the PC using my Hotmail email name, but have my professional email as a "Home/Work" alternative name in Windows Settings.
I have:
- Uninstalled the old Office 365 (x86 version) using the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant Tool (SARA)
- Installed Office 365 (x64 version) downloaded from within the Professional Email portal on Go Daddy
- Uninstalled the x64 Office Suite and reinstalled it
- Uninstalled the x64 and reinstalled the x86 Office Suite
- At various points with each Office Suite I have tried to log in and it shows my email name logged in in the Upper Right Hand corner, but it has a banner saying the application is not active and has a Yellow Triangle with an Exclamation Mark. When you click on the sign in area, you see a warning that there is a problem with the account that requires sign-in.
- Regardless of which route you take to sign in, it times out and returns the CAA50021 error.
- If I open the web browser version of Outlook and open a web app form there, the app works as expected. However, if I open the Office365 web app from the Windows Start Menu (Instead of the downloaded individual applications), it asks for a sign in and fails with the CAA50021
