On Azure Batch for long running tasks the user submitting the task should be notified

Azure Monitor gives alert rules and actions but those are not dynamic enough for this use case.
We have multiple users that use Batch to create pools and submit tasks. These jobs can take a long time to run and it would be nice to have a way to get notified of tasks completions or failures to the user submitting the task. Ditto for pool creation

To get notified of task completions or failures for the user submitting the task, you can use Azure Event Grid to create a custom event handler that listens for Batch events and sends notifications to the user.
Azure Event Grid is a fully managed event routing service that allows you to build event-driven applications. You can use Event Grid to subscribe to events from various Azure services, including Batch, and route those events to different endpoints such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or custom webhooks.
To get started, you can create an Azure Function that listens for Batch events using Event Grid. You can then configure the function to send notifications to the user when a task completes or fails. You can use the
Microsoft.Batch.task.completeandMicrosoft.Batch.task.failedevent types to listen for task completion and failure events.Here are the high-level steps to create an Azure Function that listens for Batch events using Event Grid:
- Create an Azure Function app in the Azure portal.
- Create a new function in the function app and choose the "Event Grid trigger" template.
- Configure the function to listen for Batch events by selecting "Batch" as the event source type and choosing the appropriate event types like (
Microsoft.Batch.task.completeandMicrosoft.Batch.task.failed). - Write the code for the function to send notifications to the user when a task completes or fails.
- Deploy the function to Azure and configure the Event Grid subscription to route Batch events to the function.

2024-05-15T13:45:27.2766667+00:00 @Prrudram-MSFT Can you expand on Step 3 ? I was able to follow and do upto step 2. But on Step 3 there is no option to listen to Batch events. I am using the web portal to do create these.
