When a client is in a sleep state, it typically does not renew its IP address from the DHCP server. The DHCP lease time is the duration for which a network device can use an IP address in a network. During normal operation, the client will try to renew the lease halfway through the lease time to keep the same IP address. However, if the client is in a sleep state, it is not actively communicating on the network, and therefore, it would not attempt to renew the lease.
