Reporting Services logs and database tables

hi all,

Do the RS logs and various log database tables contain the same information?

I have no access to the admin page for the production environment RS, however I am responsible for fixing issues with reports being scheduled in that environment.

Currently I am relying on an admin to inform me on any errors in the many subscriptions running in production.

I am looking for a convenient way of monitoring the production environment; am I supposed to ask for both the text file logs and read rights for the RS log tables or I can get relevant info from only one source?

Thanks,
elsvieta

    Hi @elsvieta

    database tables

Do you mean that you can access the execution logs in report server database?

The execution log is a SQL Server view stored in the report server database. The report server execution log contains data about specific reports. The data includes when a report was run, who ran it, where it was delivered, and which rendering format was used.

The service trace log contains detailed information that is useful if you're debugging an application or investigating an issue or event.

For better maintenance of the report server, you should ask for both the text file logs and read rights for the RS log.

    Regards,
