I am new to Microsoft Azure. When I try to create a new virtual machine with my Azure for Students subscription, I encounter a problem related to the spending limit or temporary payment method setup. How can I fix this issue?

Note: This is my first virtual machine, and my account is activated.Screenshot 2024-07-16 161815

Looks like you have to add a Credit Card, to your Subscription, for Pay As you Go, or select another VM type.

Based on the information here: Build in the cloud free with Azure for Students, you may have selected a VM SKU not supported by below:

    • 750 hours each of B1s, B2pts v2 (Arm-based), and B2ats v2 (AMD-based) burstable VMs

    Hi @midouniyassin,

Thank you for reaching out of Q&A forum.

    • We understand you're encountering issues when creating a virtual machine, with an error suggesting using a different subscription without a spending limit or removing the current limit. This occurs because your current subscription is a benefit subscription (e.g. free trial) with a $200 credit limit.
    • Exceeding this limit stops resources or prompts you to switch to a Pay-as-you-go plan. Certain VM images can quickly exhaust this limit due to their cost, potentially stopping the VM and disrupting your service.
    • While the issue persists with “Windows Server 2019 Datacenter -x64 Gen2,” consider using “Windows Server 2022 Datacenter -x64 Gen2” for creating your VMs.
    • To continue with the same subscription, please follow the steps outlined in the document section to remove the spending limit: Azure Spending Limit
    • If needed, update your existing subscription (requires account administrator privileges).
