Hello. I'm user of MS word 2016. I have a problem described in title. I've already reported my problem to Microsoft homepage earlier. But an agent said to give a question to you. (Refer to below page)

https://answers.microsoft.com/ko-kr/msoffice/forum/all/%ec%9b%90%eb%93%9c%eb%9d%bc%ec%9d%b4%eb%b8%8c/2a773014-dba2-417c-b44d-2433a7a7a7af

So I report my problem again.

  • Status : When I close the MS Word file's window which is in OneDrive folder, "Want to save your changes~" window doesn't pop up. (The window like below. Hereunder, I'll refer to this as 'Save Change Window') User's image In other words, changed things are automatically saved against my will. I get stressed out for this matter.
  • Product Information of my MS Word 1b75b46e-10f9-4a97-bd92-4dc05c0a53d5 (1057×584)
  • More details
    • Originally, there is no problem like this. It occured about two or three days ago.
    • In case of MS Word files in local folder(not OneDrive Folder), 'Save Change Window' pops up smoothly.
    • I try to close the window of other MS Office files like Excel, Power Point. In this case 'Save Change Window' pops up smoothly. Thus, this problem is only for MS Word.
    • I test many conditions to check the problem. (Target of this test is MS Word file in OneDrive folder)

Condition 1 : If I shut-down the synchronization of OneDrive, 'Save Change Window' pops up. And I can save changed things.

Condition 2 : If I log out from Microsoft account in MS Word, 'Save Change Window' pops up. But changed things are not saved.

Therefore, I concluded that this problem occurs when above Condition 1 & 2 are satisfied together.
  • The thing I want Changed things must not saved automatically. When I close the MS Word window, 'Save Change Window' must pop up. And I can save the changed things via this window. More details are as below.

MS Word files are in OneDrive folder. So I'll reject the answer like 'please treat a MS Word file in local folder.'

OneDrive is under synchronization. So I'll reject the answer like 'please shut-down synchronization temporarily and treat a MS Word file.'

Please check my questionaire, and give me a solution.

Your sincere reply would be highly appreciated.

    Finally, I’ve solved this problem.

Just in chance, I found some menu and changed the setting. After then the ‘Save Change Window’ pops up smoothly.

I share the action I’ve done.

But there are some things you must be aware.

At first, I don’t know there would be any side effect due to this action. In my case, I haven’t experienced any side effect until now. But I’m not sure unexpected thing would happen sometime.

And I use Korean version MS Word 2016. So I write translated menu side-by-side. But it might be not exactly same with real menu.
