Hello,
If you have created a WSUS server but are unable to add client computers, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Network Connectivity: Ensure that the client computer and the WSUS server are on the same network and can communicate with each other. Verify that there are no firewall or network configuration issues blocking the connection.
Verify WSUS Server Configuration: Double-check the WSUS server configuration to ensure it is set up correctly. Make sure that the WSUS server is running and accessible by clients. Confirm that the server has the necessary updates and synchronization with Microsoft Update is functioning properly.
Confirm Group Policy Settings: Check the Group Policy settings on the client computer to ensure it is configured to use the WSUS server. Ensure that the correct WSUS server address and port are specified in the Group Policy settings.
Restart WSUS Services: Restarting the WSUS services on the server can help resolve any potential service-related issues. Restart the “WSUS Service” and “WSUS Administration Service” in the Windows Services console.
Manually Register Client with WSUS Server: If the automatic registration is not working, you can manually register a client with the WSUS server. Open a Command Prompt on the client computer with administrative privileges and run the command “wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow” to force the client to register with the WSUS server.
Review WSUS Server Logs: Check the WSUS server logs for any error messages or warnings that could provide more information on the issue. The “SoftwareDistribution.log” and “WindowsUpdate.log” files on the client computer can also be helpful in diagnosing the problem.
Best Regards,
Hania Lian
