I have been working on this for days. I am using a HPE GL380 Gen10 that used to have Windows Server 2019 installed, but it got corrupted and no one could login. I keep getting this popup message that it is looking for a driver before it will do the OS install. Does anyone know what driver it could be looking for?

It sounds like you’re encountering a common issue where the Windows Server 2019 installer is unable to find the necessary storage drivers for your HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server. This often happens when the installer can’t detect the storage controller.

Here are the steps you can follow to resolve this:

    1. Download the Required Drivers:
    • Visit the HPE Support Center and search for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server.
    • Download the latest storage controller drivers compatible with Windows Server 2019.
    1. Prepare the Drivers:
    • Extract the downloaded driver files to a USB drive.
    1. Load the Drivers During Installation:
    • Start the Windows Server 2019 installation process.
    • When prompted for the missing driver, insert the USB drive with the extracted drivers.
    • Browse to the location of the drivers on the USB drive and load them.
    1. Continue with the Installation:
    • Once the drivers are loaded, the installer should be able to detect the storage controller and proceed with the installation.

For more detailed guidance, you can refer to the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server support page for additional resources and documentation.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or run into any issues, feel free to ask. Please don't forget to upvote and Accept as answer if the reply is helpful!

    Hi,

What is the specific error message you see when you install the OS? Can the disks be recognized by Windows?

If not, you may need to check the model of the storage controller, download the driver for that from the HP site and install it manually using a flash drive in Windows Setup.

If the disk can be recognized, install Windows as normal. Log on to Windows after the installation is complete, open Device Management to check the unknown devices and download the drivers for those devices from HP.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
