I'm trying to configure the details when I publish my .NET Maui app using the Project>Publish>Edit App Manifest. In the Visual Assets tab, I can't figure out where to change the "$placeholder$.png" labels after I use the Asset Generator. There seems to be little/no documentation on updating these assets. Please provide guidance/solution?

Create icons using Visual Studio's asset generation tool Click the ... next to the Source field and select the image you want to use. For best results, use a vector-based image, Adobe Illustrator file, or PDF. If you're using a bitmap image, make sure it's at least 400 by 400 pixels so that you get sharp results. In the Display Settings section, configure these options: Short name : Specify a short name for your app. Show name : Indicate whether you want to display the short name on medium, wide, or large tiles. Tile background : Specify the hex value or a color name for the tile background color. For example, #464646. The default value is transparent. That doesn't answer the question about the "$placeholder$.png". Where are these set? How do they impact the Generated images, and the names of the generated images?

Where is some solid and current documentation for these features?

The $placeholder$ in $placeholder$.png is a placeholder. You can change it to a name that meets your requirements according to the property explanations in this document.

What do I enter into the Small Tile Scaled Assets field? It currently has Resources\Images$placeholder$.png do I change this to any name , for example, my AppName = MauiApp4.png ? And the select Generate?

And do I enter this in all the other Visual Assets fields for $placeholders.png ?

A screenshot video would be great. :)

Yes, you can change it to any custom name. After clicking the Generate button, you will find that there are some more image files in the project, and their file names are in the format of xxx.scale-xxx.png. This is designed for the convenience of referencing image resources during the UWP era, you could refer to Load images and assets tailored for scale, theme, high contrast, and more for more details.

In Maui, you can change their Build Action to MauiImage and directly reference them in the project by file name.

If you need to use other Visual Assets, you need to manually modify them in each entry.
