Upgrade SCCM 1902 to 2002

We are in the middle of a server refresh and will be installing SCCM 2002 on a new server, different server name.
What would be the best approach to do this?
Current SCCM Primary is on Server 2012, new SCCM Primary will be on Server 2019

The question I have is what would be the recommended way to go from 1902 to 2002?
Do I install 1902 on the new server, perform the migration over to new then upgrade to 2002, or do I install 2002 then migrate all data, collections, queries, deployments, etc...?

Can someone provide a link to any official Microsoft documentation on this?

    @EVANS Michael
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Migration it not a recommended choice, and Site backup and restore should be the first choice for hardware refresh.
You may see the details in Jason's great blog:
    https://home.memftw.com/configmgr-site-server-os-instance-change/

And here is the official Microsoft documentation about site backup and restore
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/servers/manage/backup-and-recovery
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/servers/manage/recover-sites

You may also refer to Jason's blog:

Note: Change Site server name is not supported.

Thank you for the reply, the last time I did an upgrade like this was SMS 2007 to SCCM 2012 and needed to migrate

Here's my scenario - the new server has a new name, based on the link provided it says that the server name must remain the same... This will be problematic as the companies naming convention for servers has changed

Is it safe to install CB2002 and restore or should I install 1902, restore everything then upgrade?

Which would be the best method?

Thank you for your reply Jason

Based on the article that was provided it appears to state that the server name MUST remain the same, therefore that statement and comment is not pointless and meaningless
