How do I take a Screenshot from Command Prompt?

I'm MOST CERTAINLY NOT looking for third-party programs that can be run from the command prompt that take a screen shot, so don't bother posting them.

What I am looking at is an alternate way to run the same executable program that Windows runs when you press (Alt) Printscreen. I have weird stuff happen a lot that can only be seen while I am holding down keys (such as Alt when I am doing Alt-tab), and in order to show screenshots of the entire screen I have to let go of all hotkeys and just hit printscreen.

If I can find a command prompt command (or just the path to the EXE) to take a screenshot, then I can map a button on my tablet to do it, and then just push that button while holding down Alt.

    Hi Brian

If all else fails, take a photograph with a Digital Camera?

    Hello Brain,

There is a built in tool (Snipping tool) to take screen shots in Windows 7. Using Snipping tool you can take screen shots in Windows 7.

Refer to the article “Snipping Tool” to know more about snipping tool.
