After opening "Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio" for SQL 2012 and trying to connect to the server I get this : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (Microsoft.VisualStudio.Platform.WindowManagement)

Can anyone please HELP me? I am VERY NEW at this...

Thank you for your time !

Install a service pack to sql or Reinstall sql or repair. Something must have wiped out part of the install or it didn't install right or it needs a SP for SQL.

This is a windows user forum. I would post a question at that forum it will be more helpful since they deal with this

    Good luck

Why are you installing SQL Mgmt.? I see you have VS installed. Visual Studio has a SQL Server tool that developers can use. The one you are trying to install is for Database Engineers and such.

BTW TechNet forum is a better place to post this type of a question. My guess is you need to update Visual Studio. I don't know what edition you have but make sure you have all the updates and SP for you version then restart and try again with VS closed
