I have Office for Mac 2016 plan for Enterprise (Macbook Air). I'm trying to open an excel file that has macros but got the error "Microsoft Visual Basic - Unexpected Error (485)".

I have the most updates Mac OS for Excel the version for Excel is 16.16.8 (190312)

You can also find the screen shot of the same.

Suyog

    Hi SuyogBhandari,

    Thank you for your message.

It is usually happening when your macros code refers to something that does not exist or no longer exists. Since you are running it on MAC the latest Version of office 2016 0n Mac is 16.16.9 (19041201), please update after re-open Excel file. Release notes for Office 2016 for Mac

To better understand the situation, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. Is the issue only related to this specific file which has macros or all worksheets which have macros? If you create a new worksheet with some simple macros, will the worksheet run into the same error?

    2.  Does the worksheet work well before? Do you encounter this issue after some Mac OS or Office updates?

    1. Click Excel/Apple icon on the top bar>About Excel/About This Mac>let us know current versions of your Mac OS and Excel for Mac.
    2. could you share with us the problematic worksheet via private message? We want to test it from our side. See if the issue is related to your specific Office suite or macros in that file

If you still need any help, please feel free to let us know and thanks for your cooperation in advance.

    Regards,

Waqas started his reply off correctly by pointing you to the explanation of what causes error 485. Then he went crazy with his "private message" nonsense.

You'd be much better off checking out Ron De Bruin's page here:
