Network Adapters Disappearing

Recently, for no reason I can see, my network adapters on Windows 11 Pro keep disappearing.

I've used all the in-built Windows tools to automatically detect and fix common problems, without success. I used all elements of that, one-by-one.

Attempted to use Device Manager to reinstall network drivers for broken adapter, also without success. Initially, there simply weren't any adapters, now it's showing it, with a driver, but not working.

I've also used the Complete Iinternet Repair and NetAdapter Repair All In One tools, also without success.

It got to the point where nothing I did made a difference, except System Restore, which takes a while and didn't solve the underlying problem.

I had thought it was my VPN, but it wasn't - same problem with different VPN and in between, when I didn't have one.

I have had this install since 2023, but I was hoping to understand this first, before the inevitable re-install.

Most recently, the adapter is actually there, in reduced form and after a couple of reboots, it was working again.

I'd appreciate any practical ideas.

    David,

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    I should have explained better: It's acutally working ATM, so I can't show the errors.

    I'll post back when it happens again and its (temporarily) resolved itself again.

    Currently, I've nothing to show you, as it's working. I just don't understand why it wasn't working and has now resolved itself

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    It is necessary to investigate this issue to understand the reason for it.

    Please do the following:

    1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Device Manager";
    2. Click on the "View" menu and select "Show hidden devices";
    3. Expand "Network adapters";
    4. If the Wi-Fi adapter is listed, right-click and select "Properties". Check if there is an error in "Device Status". If you see an error under Device Status, please share a screenshot.
    • Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool. Or take a picture of the screen using a camera or smartphone and share it.

    Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

    Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool. Or take a picture of the screen using a camera or smartphone and share it.

    I await your reply.
