Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Paid Microsoft 365 subscriptions with Copilot still have AI feature limits and AI credit quotas; image generation is not unlimited.
Two things are happening:
- Feature limits for image generation
Image generation (for example in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app or Designer/Image Creator) is governed by feature limits. These are usage caps that apply specifically to AI features and can vary by:- Subscription plan (Personal, Family, Premium, etc.)
- Feature type (for example, Actions vs. Vision/image features)
- Entry point and system conditions Limits can also change over time as new AI models are introduced.
- AI credits are consumed when generating images
Each AI action uses AI credits. Generating or editing an image counts as an AI action, so every image request deducts credits from the monthly allotment. When the quota or feature limit is reached, Copilot will report that the image generation limit has been hit, even if the subscription is active and paid.
To check and manage this:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account used for the subscription.
- Go to Services & subscriptions in the Microsoft account portal.
- Review:
- Current subscription (e.g., Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium) and that it is active.
- AI feature limits and AI credits status shown there.
If the subscription is correct and limits are still being hit unexpectedly, contact Microsoft Support from the account page so they can review the account’s AI limits and Copilot entitlements.
