I have been trying to connect my Siemens Cloud Connect device to the IOT hub. I have been following the documentation provided here:
I have tried and restarted from scratch several times, and I have always ended up with a look up error. The diagnostics of the device says there is an established cloud connection, but also gets the following error.
[ERROR]: Connecting to MQTT broker host=Demo-Hub1.azure-devices.net; port=8883: Lookup error.
My hub is named "Demo-Hub1", and I have also made sure port 8883 is open on my network.
Does anyone know why I am getting this error?

In which region your IoT Hub is deployed? Have you tried with different IoT Hub on a different region? Also, please try in a different network once and share the results.
I understand that you have opened port 8883 on your network. Also, note that The MQTT port (8883) is blocked in many corporate and educational networking environments.
I suggest you, try using MQTT over Web Sockets. MQTT over Web Sockets communicates over port 443, which is almost always open in networking environments and see if it resolves the issue. To learn how to specify the MQTT and MQTT over Web Sockets protocols when using the Azure IoT SDKs, see Using the device SDKs.

Thank you for the response,
I have now tried a new region, and am getting the same results. I would love to be able to connect with websockets, however, with the devices we have deployed, their configuration is extremely limited as shown in the documentation.
After playing with IP and network settings, I was now able to get rid of the error just for another to take its place. I now get a "Unauthorized Access" error, despite following all steps to generate the proper sas key. I am wondering if this is an internal iot hub issue or further complications of port 8883 not being completely accessible.

@Spencer Ignatieff "Unauthorized Access" could occur for multiple reasons. Could you please confirm if you have required permissions to create resources such as Azure IoT Hub in the subscription? Which authentication type you have chosen while adding a device?

It appears that the connection to the server failed due to incorrect IP address or port. I've double-checked the connection information I provided, but I'm still unable to resolve the issue.
