Are there any restrictions on what I can do with data obtianed from Maps APIs?

I would like to specifically use the Query API from the Bing™ Spatial Data Services Application Programming Interface (API) for a data science project. This would involve:

  1. Submitting queries for certain locations from the API
  2. Creating a database with the search results
  3. Performing statistical tests on the data in the database
  4. Creating a map with the queried data

I will not be making a profit of this project. It would just go on a personal website.

If it ends up being the case that I would like to publish in an academic journal, will the answer to my question be different?

My question is do any of (1)-(4) violate the terms of use for the Maps API?

This forum is for Azure Maps which is a separate platform from Bing Maps. You can find the Bing Maps forums here: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=bingmaps

That said, I know the answer to your question, it depends on what data you are querying. I'm assuming you are going to do geocoding on some data, then store the results in a database, do calculations on that and display it on a map. Geocode results is the only data in Bing Maps that can be stored, but may only be stored for as long as you license Bing Maps (free license counts), and may only displayed on top of a Bing Maps.
