Should we stop replication between SharePoint 2019 content databases during the SharePoint patch installation

Hi,
We have two on-prem SharePoint 2019 Farms ( Independent Farms) , one acting as Primary and other acting as Secondary Farm. We have configured SQL AlwaysOn Availability groups and only the Content Databases are synced between them.
Now we are planning to install SharePoint 2019 August 2020 CU in the Secondary Farm. I want to know if we need to break the SQL replication between the Content databases, will the CU patch will have any impact on the replication, will the content database version change? Is it advisable and necessary to break the replication before the CU patch installation?
Need help here.

Regards,
Ketan Sahasrabudhe

Hi Ketan Sahasrabudhe, thanks for posting in Q&A forum.

There is no need to break the SQL replication during the patching process, but you will need to detach the database from the Secondary Farm before patching.

Here is an article with explanation and tutorial you can refer to: Patching SharePoint with No Downtime using SQL Server AlwaysOn. (Detailed steps can be found in the section “Compatibility Range Confirmed: Perform Read/Write Upgrade”.)
