There is an interesting article by Peter Denning titled "Is computer science science?" that was published in the Communications of the ACM. According to the abstract "[c]omputer science meets every criterion for being a science, but it has a self-inflicted credibility problem."
This is a great article and well worth reading, knowing and sharing. I'd be tempted to print out a copy and post it in the teacher's lounge myself. But clearly if you find yourself having the discussion about computer science being a science or not this is an article you will want to have in your back pocket to pull out.
