Mark Chamberlain's bio

My computer career started in North Seattle in 1976-77 when I soldered together an Altair 680 hobby computer and converted Microsoft Basic from paper tape to a home brew tape storage device for it (a cassette tape recorder).

I graduated with an MSEE and developed hardware, firmware and software to accelerate minicomputers, initially by replacing core memory with DRAM memory, and eventually by emulating the computer with a PC, which far outperformed the original minicomputer, even when using 1990 PC technology. Later I developed a number of embedded systems including the Zetron Series 4000 communication control system which is used in scenarios such as 911 emergency radio dispatch.

I joined Microsoft Product Support in 1997, supporting Windows 9x device drivers. A few years later I was inducted into the Windows Me dev team where I was responsible for coding internationalization and storage device related issues.

I joined the XP Embedded team as the Developer Test Lead in 2000. There, I served as a manager, mentor, developer, tester and content writer.

Since 2003 I have shared responsibility with my associate Khalid Sabri, handling global support escalations for Windows XP Embedded. 

I live in North Seattle with my wife Teri, her daughter Alison, and two young baby felines, Abbie and Kanga.

For recreation, I love to play Wallyball, fly radio controlled flying wings, and invent things in my shop.
