How Microsoft IT Uses Terminal Services

msitshowcase

Now that Windows Server 2008 has been released there is heaps of information and resources coming out and in particular from Microsoft's own IT department.  This one caught my eye on how we are using the new Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 and in particular the new TS Gateway feature to give users a scalable remote access solution without having to VPN into the corporate network.  As a frequent traveller this a feature I use a lot as I really don't like to VPN in when I'm travelling just to get access to the corporate network to put my expenses in.  Now with this new solution I can get access to key corporate resources just using my Smartcard.  We started this deployment way back in 2005 and had an initial configuration that looked liked this.

It's a great service and is helping our users get access to the resources they need no matter where they are.  To find out more check out the Technical Whitepaper and the Technical Webcast.
