Microsoft just released Microsoft Robotics Studio, a point-and-click software tool designed to make it easier to program simple robots. The software can be used with a wide variety of hardware (yes, even your Roomba!) and by a wide audience of users. The software is free to play with for personal or educational use. It's $399 for a developer who uses the Robotics Studio to create a commercial robot.
More than 30 vendors have signed up with a cool-looking range of innovative robotics applications, including RidgeSoft and LEGO, makers of MindStorms NXT -- whose robots can be programmed or directed using the Robotics Studio.
