It sounds to MS ROPE, ROXY,... Rido, you were a visionary in 1999 ! ;-)
However, let's learn from that experience... let's use it with small amount of data, otherwise the overhead of rendering data (vía XSLT) and all of the JavaScript staff needed, can be a burden for the browser. Also, there's a risk... developers tend to bring business logic to the client side... more JavaScript... heavy for the browser.
Nevertheless, this technology, well used, is useful, powerful, and improves the user-experience.
