Thanks! Let’s fix this step by step. Since you’re on a Gigabyte G5 KF laptop with InsydeH2O BIOS (version FB10), and you're having trouble accessing advanced BIOS settings, USB boot, and Q-Flash here's how we can unlock the full options and get things working again.

Step-by-Step: Unlock Advanced BIOS + Boot from USB + Q-Flash Access

    1. Unlock Hidden "Advanced BIOS" on InsydeH2O

InsydeH2O BIOS has hidden advanced settings (like Q-Flash, VMD config, CSM toggle, etc.) that can often be unlocked.

This is unofficial but commonly used and safe if followed exactly.

    Here’s how to try it:

Turn on your laptop and immediately press F2 or DEL repeatedly to enter BIOS.

Once inside the BIOS, press this key combo slowly:

    bash

Fn + Tab (press 3 times) → then press F10 (save and exit) → then re-enter BIOS

    OR (if that doesn’t work):

    arduino

    Hold Fn + press A

On reboot, go back into BIOS (F2 or DEL) again. You should now see Advanced Mode or new menus like:

    Advanced

    Chipset

    VMD controller

    Q-Flash

Let me know if this unlocks more options for you. If it doesn’t, I’ll guide you through BIOS update via bootable USB instead.

    1. Force Boot from USB (if not showing in Boot Manager)

Even if the USB is properly made, sometimes Secure Boot/VMD settings block it from appearing.

    Do this:

    Rebuild USB with Rufus:

    Partition scheme: GPT

    Target system: UEFI (non-CSM)

    Use Windows 11 ISO

    Try boot menu key: F12

If it still doesn't show, check that:

    Secure Boot is Disabled

    Fast Boot is Disabled

VMD Controller is Disabled (but only if you are not using RAID SSD config)

    1. Use Q-Flash to Update BIOS (if needed)

If you can unlock Advanced Mode (see step 1), you should see Q-Flash under the “Save & Exit” tab or in the Advanced tab.

    To use it:

Download the latest BIOS for G5 KF (from Gigabyte Support)

Format a USB stick to FAT32

Extract the .bin BIOS file onto the USB

Plug USB into laptop, go into BIOS

Enter Q-Flash and follow prompts to flash the update

    Summary of the steps:

    Unlock Advanced BIOS > Fn + Tab x3, then F10, re-enter BIOS

Boot from USB > Disable Secure Boot + use F12 Boot Menu

Access Q-Flash > Only shows in Advanced Mode or BIOS “Save & Exit” tab

Reinstall Windows > USB must be GPT + UEFI formatted via Rufus

    Hope it will help.

    Thanks,

    Aeron C.

    Hi Diego!

Thanks for the clear follow-up that helps a lot. Based on what you’ve described, you're stuck at the black screen with the Gigabyte logo, and:

    :white_check_mark: You disabled VMD controller

:white_check_mark: You created a bootable USB

❌ You're unable to boot from USB

❌ You can’t access Safe Mode or Advanced Startup

❌ BIOS won’t enter advanced mode

This is likely a firmware-level lock or compatibility issue, especially common on Gigabyte G5 KP models after Windows 11 updates or incorrect BIOS/boot settings. Let’s solve it step-by-step:

Step-by-Step Fix: Hard Reset BIOS + USB Boot Override

    1. Fully Reset BIOS to Defaults (Clear Misconfigurations)

Sometimes disabling VMD or other options partially causes the BIOS to misbehave.

    How to do it:

    Turn off the laptop.

Hold down F2 or DEL, then press Power to enter BIOS (repeat a few times if needed).

    Once in BIOS, press:

    F9 to load defaults

Then F10 to save and exit

If that doesn’t help or you can’t access BIOS at all, do a full hardware reset:

Turn off the laptop and unplug the charger

Hold the power button for 60 seconds straight

Reconnect and try F2 or DEL again

    1. Force USB Boot Using Boot Menu

Don’t rely on auto boot from USB — use Boot Menu directly.

    Steps:

Plug in your bootable USB (Windows 11 ISO created with Rufus)

    Turn off the laptop

On boot, press F12 repeatedly to bring up the Boot Device Selection menu

    Select your USB manually

If F12 doesn't work, try ESC or F11, depending on BIOS version.

    1. Recheck USB Format (Rufus Settings)

Rebuild your boot USB like this:

    Use Rufus

    ISO: Windows 11 official ISO

    Partition scheme: GPT

    Target system: UEFI (non-CSM)

Optionally: Tick boxes to remove TPM/Secure Boot checks

This ensures compatibility with modern UEFI-only Gigabyte laptops.

Why Your G5 KP May Still Be Freezing

Gigabyte G5 KP laptops are known to hang on the logo due to:

BIOS trying to use Intel VMD even when Windows doesn't support it

Conflicts between Secure Boot, VMD, and boot media

Firmware bugs in earlier BIOS versions

Last-Resort Options (If Nothing Else Works)

    1. Flash BIOS via USB (BIOS Recovery)

If your BIOS is glitching, you can flash a newer one directly via USB using Q-Flash:

Download latest BIOS for G5 KP:

    Gigabyte Support – G5 KP

    Format USB as FAT32

Extract and copy the BIOS .bin file to USB root

    Plug USB into laptop

Enter BIOS (F2), go to Q-Flash and flash the update

    Hope it will resolve it.

    Hi Diego!

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Yes, this is a known issue for some Gigabyte G5 KP laptops (and similar models with 11th Gen Intel CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs) when updating or reinstalling Windows 11. The system often freezes on the boot logo with no progress, especially during or after feature updates or clean installs.

You're definitely not alone, and thankfully there are a few workable solutions, depending on where you're getting stuck.

    Problem Summary:

Freezes at boot logo after Windows 11 update or fresh install

Often related to Intel VMD (Volume Management Device) or BIOS/firmware settings

May also involve GPU/driver conflicts or Secure Boot / TPM interaction

Solution 1: Disable Intel VMD in BIOS (Most Effective)

Intel VMD is used for NVMe RAID and can interfere with Windows boot on Gigabyte laptops.

    Steps:

Boot into BIOS (Press DEL or F2 at power-on)

Go to Advanced > Intel Rapid Storage Technology

Locate VMD controller — disable it for the boot drive/NVMe SSD

    Save changes and exit BIOS

If Windows was installed with VMD enabled, disabling it can prevent it from booting a clean reinstall with VMD disabled may be required.

Solution 2: Update BIOS and Intel Drivers

Gigabyte has released firmware updates to address Windows 11 compatibility.

    Steps:

Go to the Gigabyte Support page

    Download and install:

    The latest BIOS update

    The Intel Chipset driver

The Intel VMD driver (if using VMD)

Flash BIOS using the Gigabyte BIOS Utility (EZ Flash)

    Reboot and retry the update

Solution 3: Use Windows 11 ISO with Drivers Preloaded (Advanced)

If you're doing a clean install and it freezes:

    Download the Windows 11 ISO

Use Rufus to create a bootable USB and:

Choose "Remove TPM check" and "Secure Boot" if needed

Download Intel RST/VMD drivers from Gigabyte’s website

During installation, when you reach “Where do you want to install Windows?”, click Load Driver

Load the VMD/RST driver from your USB

This helps Windows recognize the NVMe drive properly.

    Optional Fixes to Try Alongside:

Turn off Secure Boot in BIOS

Switch boot mode from UEFI to Legacy (temporary)

Use Windows 11 Safe Mode (if you're stuck post-installation)

Disconnect other drives and USB devices during the update

If You're Already Locked Out (System Won’t Boot):

If your G5 KP laptop is stuck post-update:

Boot into the Advanced Startup Menu (use recovery USB or 3 failed boots to trigger)

Choose System Restore or Uninstall Latest Update

If those fail, back up data via recovery tools and reinstall Windows with VMD disabled

Let me know if it helps.

    Aeron C.
