Sign-In system is broken in my laptop.

I can't sign in into my laptop because I get the "This sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns" message.

  1. Neither of those happened. I use my password correctly and I have not been shutting it down many times at all. I don't know if it counts the update restarts or something. The last time I shut down my laptop was at 4:00 pm and turned it on at 8:00 pm.
  2. I can't use any option of the "I forgot my pin" options. When I put my outlook password it gives me an error message saying that I need to connect to the internet (which I am).

I do not want to believe any update caused this or something else, I had a homework to do and I couldn't print it because the whole thing is locked behind a unexplainable barrier that I can't break.

I will leave my laptop sitting there in my bedroom until I wake up again like in 6 hours (One of the solution it proposes is to wait for two hours connected to the internet), it will be horrible if I wake up and nothing happened at all. I hope it's not broken or anything. I have really important files in there, and I can't lose them.

I use Windows 11 and my laptop is from Lenovo.

(If anything,. I'm sorry if there's bad grammar or writing in here, I'm tired and frustrated and literally in tears because I think I just broke something so precious to me.)

    You can try these steps:

    1. Update Network Drivers:

Go to Device Manager > Network adapters

    Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Update driver

Or visit Manufacturer’s site to download the latest Wi-Fi drivers for your model.

    1. Run Windows Updates:

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Make sure you're on the latest version as some updates fix exactly this kind of sign-in bug.

    1. Check Sign-In Settings:

Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options

Make sure the "Automatically finish setting up my device" and "Use my sign-in info to auto-finish setup" options are enabled. These help smooth out login after restarts.

    1. Network Repair Tools:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

Also, since you are back in, back up your important files. This issue doesn't usually cause data loss, but it's a good time to make sure you have a backup, especially before more updates.

Please let me know if it worked or not and I would be happy to assist you further. Thank you!

IT WORKED WITH SAFE MODE AND NETWORKING... What do I have to do next ..?

Edit: I could enter my laptop normally but only with Ethernet. It works like usual, but I'm still worried about this.

Is there anything that tells me why is this happening? Or why did this happened with normal Wi-fi?

Hi, my name is Julian. Since this is a public forum made up mostly of fellow gamers and users like you and me, all we can offer are guidance and suggestions. I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue.

The message "This sign-in option is disabled..." usually triggers after multiple failed attempts or unexpected shutdowns. Sometimes Windows updates or network glitches during sign-in can falsely trigger it.

    Try these steps:

    1. Wait it Out: Since you're leaving it connected overnight, that's a good step. Keep it plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi, sometimes Windows needs time to verify credentials with Microsoft’s servers.
    2. Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking to bypass the lock, click here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win...
    3. Use Web Recovery Tools. Try resetting your PIN or unlocking the device remotely. Click here https://account.live.com/password/reset. Unlock here https://account.microsoft.com/devices
    4. For offline account users, If you're using a local account, try entering your password instead of the PIN. If the network isn't working during login, connect via Ethernet if possible—it’s more reliable than Wi-Fi at login.

If none of this works by the time you wake up, don’t panic, your files are likely still safe, and I can guide you through recovery or backup steps without needing to reset Windows.

Please let me know if it worked or not and I would be happy to assist you further. Thank you!
