Hello there,
I'm Pau, and I'm your Independent Advisor. Thanks so much for your idea on how to make Windows 11's built-in AI-powered management feature better at optimizing RAM. I can see how helpful it would be to have a Microsoft-made tool to better manage RAM usage without having to use other software.
Even though Windows 11 doesn't have this feature yet, there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your RAM using the tools and settings that are already there. Here are some simple steps that you can take:
Optimize RAM with built-in tools:
> Turn on Storage Sense to get rid of temporary files.
In Settings, go to System, then Storage, and then Storage Sense. Set it to clean up automatically.
> Turn off startup apps to save memory.
Right-click on the taskbar, select Task Manager, then Startup apps. Uncheck the boxes next to any items that you don't need.
> Change the visual effects to get better results.
When you press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl. Then, go to Advanced > Performance > Settings > For the best performance, choose Adjust.
> Resource Monitor can be used to look for memory leaks.
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc > Open Resource Monitor > Click on the Performance tab Check how much memory each process is using.
> Check your Windows memory.
Type mdsched.exe > when you press Windows + R. Start up again to look for memory problems.
> Use virtual memory (File for Paging)
Launch Settings, then System, then About, then Advanced System Settings, then Performance, then Advanced, then Virtual Memory. Choose your own size.
Optional Power User Tip: You can manually clear Standby Memory with PowerShell if you know how to do it:
> Run PowerShell as administrator > Use the EmptyStandbyList.exe tool (you have to download it by hand, it's not built in).
We really value your opinion.
It would be great if Microsoft added something like this to future updates (like 24H2); many users would really like it.
Please let me know if you need more help or have other thoughts. I'm ready to help!
Thank you,
Pau
