Accidentally deleted Azure SQL logical server, need best effort recovery within 7 days
Hello. On November 5, 2026 at 17:04 UTC we accidentally deleted an Azure SQL Database logical server in the Central US region. Soft delete was not enabled, there are no long term retention backups and no geo replicas. The server does not appear in the list of deleted servers and Restore-AzSqlServer returns that no deleted server was found.
The server had one database, General Purpose serverless with the free offer, that contained about 40 tables of work that do not exist anywhere else.
According to the Azure guidance, a best effort recovery is possible within 7 days if no new server with the same name was created. We meet both conditions: the deletion was within the last 7 days and we have not reused the server name.
We are on the Basic support plan, so we cannot open a technical support ticket. Could the Azure SQL team attempt a best effort recovery of the server, or restore the database backup into a new server we already created in the same resource group?
We can share the subscription, resource group, server name and owner approval privately. Thank you.
