All about Windows Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN)
There are some updates on an interesting topic related to Windows Azure Platform, which is connected to a distributed delivery of the content to end users around the globe. Yep, you have guessed it, I am talking about CDN feature that is part of the Windows Azure platform (no worries it is a check-box feature of the platform, so you don’t have to develop anything by yourself ).
A great new guide was just published, located here: "Getting Started with the Windows Azure CDN", which explains what CDN is, how it works and how you can easily use it with your Windows Azure solutions.
In case you are wondering where the locations of the CDN datacenters are (there are additional datacenters used for CDN in order to properly work around the globe), you can read this blog post. There are 20 and probably another one is just being added to the list that is around your corner…
Great, great post also from Steve Marx that shows you how to enable Smooth Streaming with Windows Azure Storage and leverage CDNs to boost up performance for end users! Do try it out - it is sooo simple with Expression 4 (sneak peek of Steve’s Plug-In below).
