Support for IE7 for SAP NetWeaver

As IE7 gets more and more into focus, I recently got questions when SAP applications will support using IE7 for the browser based access of the backend applications. There is a SAP note 981710 which gives the answer. SAP is going to support IE7 for SAP NetWeaver (i.e. SAP Enterprise Portal) with Support Package 19 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and Support Package 10 for SAP NetWeaver 2004s. Both are scheduled to arrive in Q4/2006. My check of the last available SP for SAP NetWeaver 2004s at the time I write this still showed SP 9 as the latest SP.

    Does anyone know how or if ie7 will work with SAP WAS 6.20 EP (Enterprise Portal)6.0.2 patch 28?

    I would suppose you will need to install the latest, downward compatible kernel which comes with the Support Package. In case of WebAS 6.20, the SAP Kernel 6.40 can be used. This kernel is part of the SAP NetWeaver 2004. Please also verify SAP note 803429 which explains about the use of 6.40 kernels for 6.20 based WebAS.
