Windows Developer News for the Week of Oct 22nd
This week, we published a new Hilo Chapter, refreshed the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Application Quality Cookbook, and created a new thread in the Power management for tracking power management issues.
Hilo Updates
Hilo Chapter 15 was published today! This chapter, Hilo Chapter 15: Using Windows HTTP Services covers the integration piece that was performed for Flickr support. The coolest thing about this update is that it demonstrates RESTful implementation and support in C++ which effectively shows how you could integrate RESTful services (Netflix, Facebook, and Amazon to name a few) into Windows applications in native code.
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Application Quality Cookbook
The latest update to the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Application Quality Cookbook has been released. This update is very minor but it’s worth calling out that this content is an EXCELLENT way to review projects you are developing to ensure they are good Samaritans in the larger Windows ecosystem.
Power Management
The Power Management team started a thread in the Power Management Developer Forums where you can report power management problems to Microsoft and ISVs. If you have an application that is preventing Windows from sleeping, please file a bug report in the forums and we’ll try and get it fixed.
