Sunday Surprise: TechNet Wiki Ninjas & MVP Global Summit – 2018 Edition

MVP Logo Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) continue to play an active role in both the TechNet Wiki and the Wiki Ninjas blog. Lots of TechNet contributors and TechNet Wiki Community Council members are MVPs invested in the TechNet Wiki.

A benefit of being an MVP is you receive an invitation to Microsoft MVP Global Summit. MVP Global Summit is a multi-day event hosted at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond and in Bellevue, Washington. MVP Summit enables MVPs to connect with other MVPs, build relationships with Microsoft product managers, and provide feedback on Microsoft products and technologies.

MVP Program 25

This year’s MVP Summit was from March 4-7, 2018 and it celebrated the 25th anniversary of the MVP program.

One of the best things about attending the summit is being able to see people from around the world, This is especially true for all the TechNet Wiki MVPs. And like the last MVP Summit in 2016, there was excellent attendance from Microsoft TechNet Wiki Ninjas including:

(If you were there and we missed you, please let us know in the comments.)

We attended for our various technical sessions but we also saw see each other on the Sunday evening and again during Wednesday’s attendee celebration. The following are photos we took that I want to share with the TechNet Wiki community.

I am already looking forward to the next MVP Global Summit. If you are a TechNet Wiki MVP, consider meeting up with us at the next event. If you are thinking you want to be an MVP, go for it! There are lots of blog posts on the internet written by current and former MVPs offering tips on how to become a Microsoft MVP. And don’t forget to contribute your articles to the TechNet Wiki! It helps your case for being an MVP.

Great post!I assume that at this time all that were in the summit came home safely, and back to their daily duties :-)I followed the summit from remote as much as it is possible and I am sure it was a GREAT event and opportunity to meet each other in person.Regarding the sentence "Lots of TechNet contributors and TechNet Wiki Community Council members are MVPs", it's important to mention that lots of these were not MVPs when they joined the TechNet Wiki. Our activities in the TechNet community and the contribution to the community is directly related to becoming an MVP and not vise versa :-) One more point to mention is that there are more then 50 TechNet Wiki members who are MVPs today, from all around the world. Naturally, Not all could come to the summit. It is great to see so many that could go and represent us there :-)

Excellent points, Ronen.A lot of TechNet members are MVPs today because of their contributions here. I know for me that this site helped me to be an MVP.And yes, while a lot of TechNet MVPs were there a lot could not make it. Hopefully, we will see more at the next event.

It is always fun to meet people for the first time at an MVP summit that you only know "virtually" online. You discover that they are real people, not just dry experts. And it is great to get reacquainted with friends from previous summits.
