Formula designer (form)

Click Inventory and warehouse management > Formula > Designer.
Use this form to design tree structures for formulas. You can also create and maintain formula versions, approve and activate formula versions, and assign items or sub-formulas to specific operations.

View and modify the tree structure for the current formula, the route attached to the formula, and items that you add to the tree structure. |

Edit |
Modify the selected formula line. |

Delete the selected formula line. |
Check |
Open the Check BOM or formula form to check for errors, such as formula circularity. |
Edit formula version |
Open the Edit formula version form to modify the selected formula version. |
Print formula and formula lines for the selected formula. |

Setup |
Open the Print destination settings form to set up printer specifications and options. This button appears only on the Setup tab. |

Description |

Item number |
The identification for the formula item. |
Search name |
Specify a name that is used for search purpose if the item number or name does not work well for search purposes. Because search names are indexed, using search names instead of item names often provides quicker results. |
Item group |
The item group that the item is assigned to. You define the item group in the Item group form. Item groups are used together with ledger transactions, and they can be used as printing criteria. |
Type |
Displays the symbol that is assigned to the formula line. |
Production type |
The production type assigned to the item. The values include the following: Co-product, By-product, Planning item, BOM, Formula, and None. |
Site |
Select the site for the formula line. |
Display principle |
Select one of the following display principles to use in the formula tree structure:

Version date |
Select or enter the version date for the formula and route. You use the version date to identify which formula version must be used on a specific date, as determined by the version dates in the formula version setup. |
From qty. |
Enter the minimum quantity that is valid for this formula version. When generating orders, Process manufacturing production and logistics automatically selects a formula version, which is based on this and other criteria that you specify. If you leave the field blank, this formula version is valid for all quantities. |
Show valid only |
Select to display only valid formula lines in the formula tree structure. The validity of formula lines is determined by the validity dates for the formula line. To view the validity dates for a formula line, right-click or double-click the line. |
Configuration |
Select to display the configuration dimension on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Size |
Select to display the size dimension on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Color |
Select to display the color dimension on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Product name |
Select to display item names on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Qty. |
Select to display item quantities on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Unit |
Select to display the unit of measure in which the item is expressed on the formula lines the tree structure. |
Configuration group |
Select to display the configuration group on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
From date |
Select to display the date from which this formula line is valid on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
To date |
Select to display the last day that the formula line is valid on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Sub-BOM |
Select to display sub-formulas on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Subroute |
Select to display sub-routes on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Oper. No. |
Select to display operation numbers on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Line type |
Select to display information about the line type on the formula lines in the tree structure. |
Confirm deletion |
Select to add a confirmation step to the delete function. |
Edit when adding |
Select to open the Edit formula version form when you add items to the Formula tree structure. |
Max. qty. of levels |
Enter the maximum number of levels to print. To set up print parameters, click the Setup button. |
Used symbols |
A legend of icons and their descriptions. Process manufacturing production and logistics uses the icons to identify each type of ingredient that makes up the formula. Ingredients appear in the display areas on the Designer tab. |
