Interest journal (form)

Click Accounts receivable > Inquiries > Collections > Interest journal.
Use this form to view interest notes for all customers or for a specific customer.
Navigating the form
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Voucher |
Open the Voucher transactions form, where you can view, by voucher number, the ledger transactions that are related to the selected interest note. |

Open the Customer transactions form, where you can view transactions that are posted to the customer account for the interest note that is selected on the Overview tab. |
Interest Lines |
Open the Interest Lines form. Note This control is available only if the Public Sector configuration key is selected. |
Fields
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Customer account |
The account number of the customer who is being charged interest. Interest is charged to the invoice account that is assigned to the customer. |
Interest note |
The number of the interest note. |
Billing classification |
Select one or more billing classifications to include in the results. Note This control is available only if the Public Sector configuration key is selected. |
Start date |
The first day on which interest is calculated for the selected interest note. |
End date |
The last day on which interest is calculated for the selected interest note. |
Block |
If this check box is selected, the customer account is blocked from additional invoicing. To unblock the account, select No in the Invoicing and delivery on hold field in the Customers form. |
Currency |
The currency of the interest note. |
Posting profile |
The posting profile that applies to this transaction. Use the Customer posting profiles form to define posting profiles for customer transactions. |
Fee |
The amount of the interest note fee. The fee amount is filled in automatically if a fee has been set up on the interest code that applies to the selected interest note. You can revise the fee before you post the interest note. Use the Interest form to set up interest codes and corresponding fees. |
Total |
The total amount of interest that is charged to the customer account for the selected interest note. |
Name |
The name of the customer who is responsible for the invoice account and to whom the interest note is sent. The name is retrieved automatically from the invoice account and cannot be changed on the interest note. |
Language |
The language of the customer. |
Payment ID |
The payment ID for the interest note. |
Use posting profile from |
The posting profile specification that is selected when the interest note is created.

General journal number |
The voucher number of the posted interest note in the general ledger. When the interest note is posted, this field is updated automatically according to the number sequence that is selected for interest notes in the Accounts receivable parameters form. |
Fee write-off amount |
The amount of any fees that were written off for the selected interest note. For more information, see Collections and credit in Accounts receivable. |
Fee adjustment status |
The current status of any adjustments that were made to a fee for the selected interest note. Fees can have a status of Waived, Reinstated, or None, if no adjustments were made. For more information, see Waive, reinstate, or reverse interest or fees. |
Sales tax group |
The sales tax group of the customer account. Together with the item sales tax code, the sales tax group determines the sales tax on the fee of the interest note. You can change the sales tax group before you post the interest note. |
Item sales tax group |
The item sales tax group that applies to the fee of the selected interest note. The item sales tax group is specified in the Interest form for the interest code that applies to the interest note. You can change the item sales tax code before you post the interest note. For more information about how sales tax groups and item sales tax groups determine the sales tax, see Set up and use sales tax codes. |
Print code |
The code for the sales tax on the fee that is printed on the voucher. |
Sales tax amount |
The amount of sales tax on the fee of the interest note. |
Status |
The current status of the interest note:

Updated |
The date on which the interest note was updated in the customer ledger, the general ledger, and the Interest journal form. |
Canceled |
The date on which the selected interest note was canceled. |
Printed |
If this check box is selected, the interest note has been printed. |
Date |
The date of the original customer transaction. |
Interest date |
The date that the original transaction starts to accrue interest. |
Invoice amount |
The invoice amount on which the interest is calculated. |
Amount of interest |
The amount of interest that is calculated on the invoice amount. |
Days |
The number of days of accrued interest for the current transaction. The number of days is determined by the dates in the Start date and End date fields. |
Description |
The description that will be displayed on the interest note for the selected transaction. This description is entered automatically during the interest calculation and includes the invoice number. |
Adjustment status |
The current status of adjustments to the selected interest note. The status can be Waived, Reinstated, Reversed, or None, if no adjustments were made. For more information, see Waive, reinstate, or reverse interest or fees. |
General journal number |
The general journal number that is associated with the transaction that interest was calculated for. |
Write off |
The amount of any transaction interest that was written off. |
