Product model

If you click Copy from product model, the Copy from product model form opens, and you can select the model that already exists to copy. Select the one to copy. Click OK to return to the Product model page.

If you decide to create the new product model from an existing one, do not create a new product model. Instead, copy an existing product model, and change it by using the wizard.

Modeling variables

Note

You cannot use special characters, such as asterisks (*), ampersands (&), spaces, or quotation marks (") in variable names. Whenever you enter a variable name here, the system verifies whether there are unauthorized characters. If there are unauthorized characters, a message is displayed.

Also, if you try to begin a variable name by using a number, a syntax error occurs when a product model that contains such a variable is compiled.

  • Click Next > to continue.

Variable group

  • Create the variable groups that you need for presentation in the user dialog box. If you click Variable group, the Variable group form opens, and you can create new groups or change the existing ones.

If you click Product model, the Product model form opens, and you can set up the product model (such as selection of the groups, modeling variables, and creating the modeling-tree structure and validation rules).

  • Click Next > to continue.

Generate items and dimensions

  • Set up the parameters if a new item number must be generated for the item configuration. Click Generate items and dimensions > Generate items and dimensions to activate and generate items.

  • Click Next > to continue.

  • Click Compile product model to compile the product model. An Infolog that includes information about found errors opens.

  • Correct the errors by clicking < Back.

  • When there are no more errors, click Next >.

Test model

  • Click Test model to test the newly created product model.

  • Click Next > to continue.
