2.4.27 FileLinkInformation

This information class is used to create a hard link to an existing file.<132> The Server Message Block (SMB) Protocol [MS-SMB] and the Server Message Block (SMB) Version 2 Protocol [MS-SMB2] implement unique structure variants:

  • FILE_LINK_INFORMATION_TYPE_1, as specified in section 2.4.27.1.

  • FILE_LINK_INFORMATION_TYPE_2, as specified in section 2.4.27.2.

This operation returns a status code as specified in section 2.2. Upon success, the status code returned by the function that processes this file information class is STATUS_SUCCESS. The most common error codes are listed in the following table.

The specified name already exists and ReplaceIfExists is zero.

STATUS_INFO_LENGTH_MISMATCH

The specified information record length does not match the length that is required for the specified information class.

STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED

The request is not supported.
