Installer version 2.37.123.23280 - Microsoft Store version 10.0.7829.0 updates

New Features

  • Excel Online for Business, Word Online for Business, OneNote for Business (in preview) and Microsoft Teams are the latest connectors that come down to Power Automate for desktop, with multiple operations now being available out of the box as native actions for desktop flows.

  • The actions ‘Click UI element in window’ and ‘Populate text field in window’ now come with an additional parameter that allows you to simulate the corresponding action, so that it runs even if the element’s screen is in the background, without having to be focused.

  • The values of List, Datatable, Datarow and Custom object variables can now be edited during debugging through the variable value window, when the flow is paused, so that users can perform tests and debug using their own values for these variable types.

Enhancements & Improvements

  • In the variable value viewers of datatable and datarow variables, multiline cells can now be properly inspected through selecting the ‘More’ option on the corresponding cell.

  • If two different monthly versions of Power Automate for desktop are installed on the same machine (through the installer and Microsoft Store versions), then trying to open one version after already opening the other will now throw out the corresponding error.

  • The action ‘Create text with GPT on Azure OpenAI Service’ has now been renamed to ‘Create text with GPT’. In addition, the ‘Display message’ or ‘Display input dialog’ action that needs to follow the ‘Create text with GPT’ action should now contain the latter’s response in its body, to avoid having the corresponding warning in the flow.

  • Remediation steps have now been added in UI automation action errors, thrown in cases where the parent window/screen of the target UI element can’t be found.

  • The tool to inspect UI elements has now been embedded to the UI element picker window. Furthermore, after capturing some UI elements, you can now click on Cancel or close the window, to avoid saving the captured elements in the flow.

Repaired Functionality

The following list details issues in Power Automate for desktop that are now resolved:

  • An issue with the list of connection references in connector actions, displaying a wrong connection reference as the selected one, has now been fixed.

  • After running a flow through the console, navigating to the Examples tab and selecting a category, the Run button on the example flows is now disabled as expected.

  • An issue in the datetime variable value editing window, where an error message could block the input field in certain combinations of display resolution and scale, has now been resolved.

  • New line characters are now handled properly in dynamic user input arguments of connector operations.

  • Trying to save a connector action that contains a drop-down field, with an integer as a default value, no longer throws an exception due to a casting issue.

  • After being selected through the variable picker, variables can now properly be added to work queue fields in the respective actions.

  • The outputs of conditional action statements are now properly logged in the action logs of the portal.

  • An issue with desktop flows becoming non-editable and failing to run after being saved, while including multiple connector operations with one of them containing a dynamic schema, has now been resolved so that these flows can now be loaded properly.

  • An issue with UI automation actions failing when targeting Notepad has now been resolved.

  • Non-intelligible characters and symbols are now handled and removed from the text strings shown in the UI elements inspection tool.

  • The highlighter now properly encloses the UI element being captured upon hover.

  • When a web element’s selector is tested while the corresponding web tab is closed, the proper error is now displayed.

  • An ‘out of memory’ exception, sometimes thrown in the action ‘Extract text with OCR’, has now been fixed.

  • The elements of the SWT application can now be properly expanded in the tree structure of the UI element inspecting tool.

  • Pressing the ‘Esc’ key now always closes the ‘Close recorder?’ popup window, even if the user tries to close the recorder from the taskbar.

  • In the browser launching actions, the option ‘Attach to running instance’ now works even with a part of the tab URL, as expected.

  • The browser launching actions now work properly for URLs that contain spaces or their ‘%20’ encoded representations.

  • During recording, right clicking within Notepad now properly brings up the recorder’s context menu.

Other announcements

  • Custom actions have now become generally available for all premium users.

  • The tool to inspect UI elements is now generally available for all users.
